Connersville Middle School Remembers

A Civil War Sesquicentennial Commemoration
1861-1865 ~ 2011-2015

Remembrance Day - April 8, 2011

Connersville Middle School's 8th graders spent the day traveling back in time to 1861 and those beginning days of the Civil War. Civil War reenactors from both Northern and Southern units came together at Elmhurst, the "Little White House," and former home of Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of Interior, Caleb Smith, to muster in and train the students.

Our 7th graders joined us in the afternoon to watch the battle where the 8th graders took on the role of Northern and Southern soldiers on the front lawn battlefield at Elmhurst.

Following the battle, Mr. Lincoln (Dean Dorrell), presented the Gettysburg Address.
